World Cup 2026 Game Day Checklist: What to Bring and How to Get There

World Cup 2026 Game Day Checklist: What to Bring and How to Get There
Match day at a FIFA World Cup is unlike any other sporting event you have attended. The combination of international atmosphere, stadium security protocols, Texas summer heat, and 70,000-plus fans from around the world creates a day where small logistics decisions — what you packed, when you left, where you agreed to meet — matter more than usual.
This checklist is designed to remove the guesswork. Read it the day before your match and again the morning of.
Critical Note on Stadium Policies
AT&T Stadium has its own bag policy and prohibited items list. FIFA will also issue World Cup-specific security guidelines for 2026. Before your match, verify the current policy directly on the AT&T Stadium website and FIFA's official 2026 event guide, as policies can be updated.
The information below reflects general AT&T Stadium practices, but always confirm with the official source for your specific match.
The Game Day Checklist
Documents and Tickets
- [ ] Match ticket: Downloaded to phone wallet (available offline) AND screenshot saved. Do not rely solely on a live app during network congestion.
- [ ] Photo ID: Required for entry verification if your ticket is in your name.
- [ ] Passport or travel document: For international visitors, carry your passport or a clear copy. Hotel safe is fine for storage, but keep a digital copy on your phone.
- [ ] Hotel card or address: Save your hotel's full address in your phone. In the post-match chaos, GPS is your friend.
Phone and Technology
- [ ] Fully charged phone: Charge to 100% before leaving the hotel.
- [ ] Portable battery pack (power bank): Essential. With navigation, ticketing apps, messaging, and photos all running, you will use more battery than on a normal day. Cell towers near the stadium will also be congested, which increases battery drain as your phone hunts for signal.
- [ ] Data downloaded offline: Google Maps offline map of the Arlington area. Your ticket downloaded to phone wallet. Translation apps with offline language packs if needed.
- [ ] Driver's contact info saved: If using a charter bus, save your driver's phone number before you go into the stadium.
Clothing and Gear (Texas Summer Edition)
Dallas in June averages highs of 93–96°F. Humidity varies, but expect direct sun exposure during your approach to the stadium.
- [ ] Light, breathable clothing: Moisture-wicking synthetic fabrics or linen. Avoid jeans and heavy cotton for the walk to the stadium.
- [ ] Your national team kit or fan colors: Let's be real, this is mandatory.
- [ ] Hat or cap: Sun protection for the walk from drop-off or parking to the gate. Sunscreen plus a hat is significantly more effective than either alone.
- [ ] Sunscreen: SPF 50+. Apply at the hotel, not in the parking lot.
- [ ] Comfortable walking shoes: You will walk more than you expect. The distance from vehicle drop-off or parking to your specific gate may be half a mile or more.
- [ ] Light layer for inside the stadium: AT&T Stadium is air-conditioned. If you are dressed for 95°F heat outside, the stadium interior (which can reach the 70s°F) may feel cold. A light long-sleeve layer or packable pullover fits in a small bag.
Food and Hydration
- [ ] Water before you leave: Drink a full water bottle before departing your hotel. Heat and walking catch up with people who started the day underhydrated.
- [ ] Empty reusable water bottle: AT&T Stadium typically allows sealed, factory water bottles or empty reusable containers you can fill at water stations inside. Verify current policy before your match.
- [ ] Snack: If your kickoff is in the afternoon and you have been out since morning, a pre-loaded snack in your bag (granola bar, nuts) covers the gap between hotel breakfast and stadium food.
Bag Policy
AT&T Stadium operates a clear bag policy for most events. Typical requirements allow:
- One clear bag, not exceeding approximately 12" x 6" x 12"
- One small clutch purse, approximately 4.5" x 6.5"
- One gallon-size clear zip-lock freezer bag
Bags outside these specifications typically are not permitted inside the stadium. Large backpacks, non-clear bags, and camera bags with removable lenses are generally prohibited.
Check the official 2026 World Cup clear bag policy before match day — FIFA may adjust requirements beyond standard AT&T Stadium policy. Plan your packing around the clear bag requirement from the start.
Arrival Timing: How Early Is Early Enough?
For a World Cup match, plan to be at your stadium gate no later than 90 minutes before kickoff. For the highest-profile matches (semifinals, quarterfinals), extend this to 2 hours.
Why so early:
- FIFA security protocols for the World Cup will be more rigorous than a typical NFL game. Enhanced bag checks, credential verification, and international security measures add time.
- The walk from drop-off or parking to your specific gate may take 15–30 minutes depending on your entry point.
- Concession lines are longest in the 60-minute window before kickoff.
- Finding your seats, getting oriented in a 70,000-seat stadium, and settling your group takes time.
For groups using charter transportation, plan your bus departure to arrive at the stadium charter staging area 2.5–3 hours before kickoff. This accounts for match-day traffic in the Arlington stadium corridor and gives your group time to walk to their gate at a relaxed pace.
Transportation: Why Charter Bus Simplifies Everything
The game day checklist above covers what you carry. Transportation determines how the day flows around the match itself.
For groups of 10 or more, a charter bus eliminates the most stressful elements of match day logistics:
Before the match:
- Your group departs together at a known time from a single location.
- No parking search, no parking fees, no designated driver calculation.
- Driver knows the stadium approach routes and charter staging areas.
After the match:
- Everyone assembles at the pre-agreed meeting point.
- Bus picks up at the charter staging area — no post-match rideshare surge, no 45-minute wait in a parking lot.
- Your group decompresses together on the air-conditioned ride back to your hotel.
This is not a luxury convenience. For groups, it is the operationally correct choice. The match day experience for your group is largely determined by whether the transportation was seamless or chaotic.
We handle charter transportation for World Cup matches at AT&T Stadium. Full coaches (up to 55 passengers) at $185/hr, 5-hour minimum. Executive Sprinters (up to 14 passengers) at $135/hr, 4-hour minimum. Bilingual drivers. 25 years of DFW event transportation experience.

Post-Match: Group Coordination
Establish these before entering the stadium:
Meeting point: A specific, named gate or landmark at AT&T Stadium. "Meet at Gate A" is clear. "Meet outside" is not.
Departure time: How long after the final whistle will the group wait before the bus departs? Set this expectation explicitly (e.g., "bus leaves 40 minutes after the match ends, regardless of who's missing").
Emergency backup: What is the plan if someone gets genuinely separated and cannot make it to the meeting point? A designated contact outside the stadium (someone back at the hotel who can coordinate) is useful for very large groups.
